Special Thanks

Thank you to all supporters of South Carolina’s hospitals

South Carolina has a lot to be thankful for and near the top of the list are the hospitals that can be found in cities and towns across the state.

U.S. FlagAs you have seen in this report, South Carolina's hospitals often go above and beyond their stated missions, providing billions of dollars in health care and support services. These services go a long way toward improving public health, keeping South Carolina’s workers on the job and enhancing overall quality of life.

More than caregivers, South Carolina’s hospitals are an important economic engine for the state and for local communities. It is a dynamic growth industry that provides well-paying jobs at both ends of the wage spectrum, from entry level to highly skilled. Hospitals are often among the top five employers in their communities and support other businesses as well, from drug stores and medical supply companies to restaurants, print ships and floral shops. Hospitals also support medical research, serving as the proving ground for new drugs and treatments. Regardless of how you look at it, hospitals are vital to economic vitality, innovation, and of course, public health.

Which is why South Carolina’s hospitals are indebted to you. It’s only through the support of lawmakers, business people, philanthropists, and the public at large that we meet your expectations. We thank you and look forward to more years of committed service to the State of South Carolina.
